Next week The Emmett Cherry Festival starts. It is the longest-running event in Idaho (75 years ). Cherry pit-spitting contest, Cherry Pie Eating contests, The Great Cherry Bake-off and tours of the Cherry Orchards are some of the things going on. There is also a quilt show, Gem Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo, Fun Run, Emmett Cherry Festival Parade, kids parade, Cherry Festival Car Show, and an Emmett Cherry Festival Softball Tournament. Over 40,000 people will attend the festival, that is double the population of the entire county. I took this picture so I could have cards in the museum ready for the festival. Two very iconic things for our valley. Cherries and the Butte.
